Ahhhh, that Hard, Cold Light of Reality...............

"UTOPIA"
All these books, which propose a life of less stress, more quality time,  many worries, being taken care of by the government, etc., etc., etc.  :::::::   They sound lovely.
.
But like so many things, which sound "too good to be true,"  in the cold light of reality, they are just that...  "Too good to be true."
.
Why?
.
For one thing, they happen on an island, or in very small countries.   Which places, have much less population, than a country as large as the US.
.
And, the only reason these small "Socialist Utopias" can exist, is because the US maintains the military, to "Take Care of the Free World".
.
How long would Denmark, Sweden, Okinawa, etc. remain free, and enjoying the Good Life, if the US was not the defender of the Free World?
.
Who believes that China, Russian and the latest incarnation of Radical Islam, would not waltz in and take them, and us, over...??????
.
Does anyone believe this???
.
So when politicians woooo you, with visions of free this and free that, and free the other thing....   Remember that all that Free-For-All stuff, costs money.   And part of the money would come, from the dismantling of the Military.
.
And refer back to....
.
Who believes that China, Russian and the latest incarnation of Radical Islam, would not waltz in and take them and us, over...??????
.
Does anyone believe this???
.
To attempt to adapt parts of these books, in our own lives, is wonderful.   Great reminders that we do not always have to do-what-*everyone*-is-doing.  We can make logical changes.
.
Just don't let others, convince us, that every country, can live that seemingly-perfect-kind of a life.
.
Because in the hard light of reality,  there are bad guys out there.   Who would love a totally Socialist Free World.....!!!  Because it would be so easy to take over.
.
And that fact, scares me.
.
How about you?   Does it scare you too?
.
.
.
.

Oh and I meant to tell you I LOVE THE WATERCOLOR WOMAN at the top of your blog. Very cool. Yep, I probably need to rethink the ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN thing but it just seems to be the way things go...haha

I think there are and have always been threats to liberty and free thinking. I live in the UK which is so much smaller than the US. In general I am optimistic about the future. We are a multi cultural society which functions fairly well. We have our fair share of social problems which governments have done their best to address but nothing is perfect. World peace is not totally the responsibility of the US, nor should it be.

1) Beware of the old saying, "The grass is always greener . . . ", and 2) we must be careful of control.
